I don't care how many expensive gifts I get because the best gift of all is the knowledge that people are thinking of you, even for a moment. That's the thing that makes you feel special, loved and blessed. It doesn't cost a lot of money to show someone you care.

Yay, Im on holiday! Although I won't be at school when my new books arrive from Better World Books (they'll keep!), I am holiday and feeling relaxed already. Going to make jewellery, do some felting and visit family around the country. Bliss!!! Pictured are a couple of my latest pieces.

Red leaf with ghost prints

I just saw an autumn leaf flutter gently down to the ground and it made me smile as I was driving home. I love the way that the most simple things can bring me joy! They cost nothing, they're unexpected but they have a lasting effect.

I love the Internet - Yes even still!

This is another one of those "I love the Internet" moments. It is so nice to know that even though there is a lot of awful stuff on the Internet that it is also a vehicle for forging positive relationships, albeit long distance ones. This blog is a special thanks to Elizabeth Anne Norris for featuring me as her "Gem of the Day". Thanks so much to you Elizabeth, it means a lot! Please visit it at the link below.

Visit this website please

Just got home from a lovely holiday with friends and family on the Sunshine Coast in Australia. I feel very fortunate to have such lovely people 'around' me and the financial ability to go to another conutry to visit them, oh and I have my health. I feel blessed!

Listened to Adele on the plane going over and highly recommend this album. Enjoy.

Also I'm featured here. Please call by and have a visit.

I love the internet!

This is the Midnight Bird Singing by Moonlight brooch and necklace by Cari-Jane Hakes hybrid handmade from The Moon brooch series.

Don't you just love the way the internet allows you to connect with other like-minded people and share ideas and generally give each other support and positive feedback. A case in point is the link to one of my newest jewellery making 'friends'. We found each other because I made a gallery in Flickr, which she then linked to Etsy and added it to her blog. Mind boggling really if you think about it for too long! Anyway, am loving the end result. Thanks so much Cari-Jane Hakes of http://www.etsy.com/shop/hybridhandmade?ref=pr_shop in France.

Happy New Year everyone. I am not one for resolutions as I don't like to set myself unrealistic goals and set myself up for failure (I'm a coward, I know!). Who needs that pressure going into a new year full of possibilities? But I've decided that this year a "doable" resolution will be that I am going to make more jewellery, as this is my soul food. So here's a picture of me in my studio working on a piece for Joanie, who found me through Etsy. Thanks Joanie and thanks Etsy, onward and upward in 2011!
